Angelo Bonello

Angelo Bonello was born in Turin in 1971. He has been interested in painting and sculpture since childhood, under the impressionist artist Sergio Manfredi. He later met the artist Antonio Carena, from whom he learnt abstract and conceptual arts, and then moved on to techno-art with the artist Piero Gilardi. In the 1990s, he embarked on a long journey of research into nature, cultures and art. While studying, he explored forests, climbed mountain ranges and discovered and experienced the world’s great cities such as Barcelona, Paris, Beijing, Bogota, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro and many others. At the same time, he also took an interest in the figurative arts, with a focus on new performance and multimedia trends and in sport, the new circus, mountaineering and aerial disciplines. Angelo Bonello conceives urban space as a large stage hosting environmental performances and light installations that fit perfectly into the landscape, bringing Land Art to a dreamlike level. He has developed a visual sensibility and a stylistic approach based on the dimensional distortion of the stage space and the landscape. A stage that – in addition to the horizontal plane – also includes aerial projection. In 1997, he settled in Rome where he met Alberta Nunziante: together, they set up the Kitonb Project. He has continued to explore the wildest corners of the world, but Rome is where he thinks and creates more than 150 projects, realised in 40 countries around the world. Since 2014, he has also been very active in the television field as Artistic Director of “Italia’s Got Talent”, “Telethon”, “The Voice” etc., all very successful programmes.
